Sauto

sauto

Sauto can also mean "wooded land and grazed" or "high pass". The village lies in a hollowin a nest of rocks, built at the shelter of a steeple.

Sauto was a fortified village and the church is located at the site of the castle. From the village, a breathtaking view over the valley of the Tet and the sea has allowed Sauto to be nicknamed the "Eagle's Nest". The hamlet of Fetges is built on a steep slope, arranged in long terraces. The name comes from  Fetges feixes a Catalan word which means "agricultural terraces.
Sauto has kept all his sincerity and naturalness.
