Les Angles Animal Park

parc les angles

Walking along the trails of the park, you will discover the wildlife specific to the Pyrenees.

At the foot of the Pla Del Mir slopes, this 37-hectare park of pine forests set at an altitude of 1800m has two circuits, one of 3500m and the other 1500m.

The animals live in a natural habitat in semi-freedom.
It is not a zoo with animals confined in restricted areas outside their natural habitat, nor is it a reserve in which all the species of the Pyrenees are be presented together.

The park is open all year round and enables visitors to get to know the large wild animals of the Pyrenees (bears, stags, deer, wild boars, mountain sheep, ibexes, Pyrenean chamois, wolves, roe deer, marmots, reindeer, bison, etc.). It is also ideal for discovering the wealth of Pyrenean flora thanks to the variety of different sites.

Les Angles Parc Animalier Daims

The park is also typical of the forest environment in our mountains, with 37 hectares of mountain pine on the east facing slopes of the renowned Carlit massif, at an altitude of between 1700m and 1800m. It is located not very far from where the River Aude rises and just next to the ski resort.

This part of the mountain is fenced off and divided into enclosures that are very similar to the biotope of each species.
The natural environment is to the greatest extent possible respected whenever work is carried out, and special sites have been developed.

The park is conceived so that everyone can choose their own way of coming into contact with nature and the animals.
Properly appreciated, the visit is an exhortation to better understand the mountains and the species that live there.

Children above all will notice how strong a link there can be between people and nature.
The park is perhaps more a place for them than for adults.

Visiting the Les Angles Animal Park, the only one of its kind in the Pyrenees, is from all points of view an intense mountain experience and a rich and rewarding adventure.

It is in this context quite natural that presents the current Pyrenean animals living forever in our mountains such as chamois and wild boar, and those who fled the French slopes as the ibex and wolf. The endangered species depletion or disappearance as bears, those forever lost ground as the Pyrenean bison and reindeer are out of place in this park Capcir.

Herbivores, large or small, disappeared over the centuries such as deer, deer, deer, bighorn sheep, marmots, and fed back into our beds, there are very at ease.

Just be patient and passionate to observe the mountain fauna which for centuries was constantly mixed with the history of mankind. The prehistoric rock art caves Pyrenean bears witness to the long common journey that still continues through hunting, farming, recreation and art.
