Eyne's valley


The purpose of a nature reserve is to protect naturally outstanding or threatened wildlife, flora, soil, water, minerals and fossils, on the ground, underground or in water, through proper regulations of local context. 

Eyne Valley Nature Reserve
Listed since 1993, the Nature Reserve covers 58% of the area of Eyne municipality. Nicknamed the "Valley of Flowers" because of its remarkable ecological diversity, especially in plants, this natural site has been studied since the eighteenth century by the great names in international botany, Gouan, Bourgat and Razouls (1767), Adanson ( 1779), and De Candolle (1807). To date, 500 plants have been identified and among them, many endemic, rare and protected by the national list.

Observation of bird migration
During the migration period, a professional ornithologist invites you to discover the bird parade on the third Pyrenean migratory passage site. August 1 to September 30, 2017. Rens. : +33 (0)

"Between plants and pastoralism" (handicapped access)
On a former road in the Eyne valley, at the gateway to the nature reserve, come and discover a mosaic of natural environments. A family walk between pastoralism and local emblematic plants. Exit from 15/06 to 15/09, by reservation. Rens. : +33 (0)

Throughout this itinerary bordering a refreshing torrent, in the footsteps of famous botanists, you will contemplate a rich and varied flora while discovering the vestiges of the pastoralism of yesteryear. The Pyrenean fauna will surely be at the rendezvous ... Releases from 15/06 to 15/09, by reservation.

Interpretive trail of "Prat d'en Sicardo"
Putting your feet in the water, observing the bumblebees, understanding the management and much more will allow you to enter the intimacy of a preserved nature. With the help of a book of playful discovery (for sale 4 € at the Maison de la Vallée), you will discover the lower part of the valley of Eyne on a secured course of easy level.
